While at Hartbeespoort we stay at Moonlight which is a backpackers lodge and game farm. The game farm is situated in the valley below the Magaliesberg mountains (beautiful view) only minutes from the Hartbeespoort dam and dam wall. Dinner is not included for the evenings that we stay here. Your guide will stop at a shopping mall in the nearby town, where you can buy take outs or food to prepare at Moonlight lodge. There is a large communal kitchen which is fully equipped with everything you need to cook with, as well as braais where you can make fire and have a BBQ. One braai is outside and a large braai is under roof for the wet evenings. There are many restaurants in the nearby town of Hartbeespoort to which your guide can take you for dinner out (at own cost), if arranged with guide before arrivving at the lodge.
All clients (camping and bedded clients) will stay in rooms with en-suite bathrooms. See below picture gallery.
The animals at the lodge
There is a large variety of animals, including exotic and very rare wildlife species, such as golden wildebeest, black impala, sable antelope, hartswater springbuck and nyala. Other animal species include bushbuck, jackal, steenbuck, duiker and kudu. There is a elevated hide where you can view the animals from and get fantastic photos. Early evening cabbage and lucern are put out within meters from the hide. Almost always there are more than 80 animals from 10 meters to 50 meters from the hide. See below photos and video clips of some of the animals.
